Chief's Message

Welcome to the City of Tustin Police Department’s web site. We are very proud to provide the highest level of police services to a dynamic and diverse Tustin community. The men and women of the Tustin Police Department honorably serve the residents, business owners, and visitors of Tustin through a policing model of Community Governance. We work in partnership with other city departments, the residential and business community, and other governmental and non-profit agencies to reduce crime, provide a sense of safety and security, and to improve the overall quality of life for people who live, work and play in Tustin.

We hope this website will provide you with the resources and information you need from your police department, and we are constantly working to improve our level of service. As a nationally accredited police agency, through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), we are committed to “doing things the right way” and to honoring the badge on our uniforms. I am confident that the men and women of this police department represent the poise, professionalism, and compassion that one would expect from a peace officer, and I am so proud to work side by side with them every day.

Charles F. Celano Jr.
Chief of Police

The Tustin Police Department is committed to serving the community and partnering with community members in meaningful ways. The Department operates under a Community Governance philosophy which promotes partnership and problem-solving with the community.

The core of the Tustin Police Department is its sworn officers and civilian staff.  Whether you are a lateral employee or new to police work, we are always looking for applicants who desire a career in public service, believe in community oriented policing, and are willing to be part of a creative problem solving team.

Tustin Police Department also offers the following programs for community members to get involved:

The Tustin Police Department Chaplain Program is designed to improve police services and increase understanding between the Department and the community. The program is designed to offer a voluntary professional religious/social ministry to the community and law enforcement personnel, especially during times of stress and in emergency situations where a Chaplain’s specialized skills would be beneficial.

The Explorer Program is offered to young adults as a way to learn about the law enforcement profession and a commitment to community service.

Our Volunteer Program offers community members an opportunity to participate in non-hazardous law enforcement activities in support services and operations.

The Citizens' Police Academy is provided for citizens who want to be more involved in their community and gain a better understanding between citizens and police through education. The academy also provides our officers and staff with an opportunity to get to know our residents so we can remain responsive to the needs and attitudes of the community.

The Chief’s Advisory Board acts as a resource for the Chief in the formation of strategies, development of policing concepts, and increasing public awareness regarding policy issues.

The CERT Program (Community Emergency Response Team) provides you with the basic skills to respond to your family, neighborhood and community’s needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services may not be immediately available.

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program which stresses education to minimize and deter crime. This program allows residents to become more actively involved as partners in crime prevention.
